Installing an unsigned build

Release builds aren't code-signed yet, so your OS will ask you to confirm the first time you open Jimothy.

macOS

Install with Homebrew:

brew install --cask echelonone-io/tap/jimothy
  1. Or open the .dmg and drag Jimothy to Applications.
  2. The first time, right-click Jimothy and choose Open. You can also go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
  3. If macOS says the app “is damaged”, remove the quarantine flag:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Jimothy.app

Windows

  1. Install Git for Windows if you don't have it. Shell steps run in its Git Bash.
  2. If Edge says the file isn't commonly downloaded, choose … → Keep → Show more → Keep anyway in its downloads panel.
  3. Run Jimothy-windows-x64.exe. SmartScreen says Windows protected your PC: click More info → Run anyway.

Prefer Linux tools? The .deb also runs in WSL2. See the installation docs.

Linux

  1. AppImage: make it executable and run it.
chmod +x Jimothy-*.AppImage && ./Jimothy-*.AppImage
  1. Debian / Ubuntu:
sudo apt install ./jimothy_*_amd64.deb
  1. Arch / Omarchy:
sudo pacman -U jimothy-*.pacman
